Salary £50,000 pa – £60,000 pa

The Company

An ambitious organisation who operate within the growing category of organic and gluten free foods, manufacturing foods for retail, foodservice, wholesale and further food manufacturers. A new role has been created for an Operations / Engineering Manager to join the company and play a key role in supporting the growth of the business. 

The Role

Days Monday to Friday

The Manager appointed will assume site responsibility for all matters relating to Manufacturing, Operations, Engineering, and CAPEX Projects. This will involve supervising the activities of around 10 team members within a modern factory site. This role would suit a Production Manager or Operations Manager who has a background in Engineering gained from within a Food Manufacturing environment.

The Production Operations / Engineering Manager will advise the business on the manufacturability of new food products being introduced to manufacturing, proactively and reactively maintain production equipment, validate manufacturing approaches, solve problems relating to machine utilisation and efficiency, find opportunities for manufacturing improvement, manage key performance indicators relating to Production and Engineering performance, co-ordinate process improvement activities, ensure adherence to the Health and Safety policy.

The individual appointed will provide support at the product- equipment interface and will utilise technical knowledge of machine capabilities to support manufacturing and play a key role in CAPEX projects, produce reports detailing the case for capital investment, introduce an effective engineering stores system, source new production machinery, foster good relationships and collaboration with machinery equipment suppliers, expand production capacity, scale up manufacturing of new products, ensure efficient use of space and factory layout design. 

Other duties include working closely with the Technical/Quality function, Production Planning, managing Production staff to deliver orders meeting: volume, time, cost, quality. Play a leading role in supporting the Technical Manager to introduce approaches such as 5S to improve cleanliness, standards, and visual indicators within the factory. 

The Person

Hands-on understanding of Food manufacturing sites, experience in an operations/manufacturing leadership role with engineering background. Passionate about Continuous Improvement, CAPEX project management experience, understanding of Health and Safety practices, ability to lead multi-functional teams, resilient in their approach, comfortable with full autonomy to make decisions and work with a minimum of supervision. Salary £50,000 pa – £60,000 pa + Benefits

This role is based close to Heathrow Airport, near the Middlesex/Surrey Border.
